The story of nonviolence
In 1893, one month apart from one another, India sent two of its great messengers from its shores. These men would spark a rekindling of the great spiritual tradition of India. Swami Vivekananda traveled to America, speaking of the unity of all things and and tolerance for all of humankind. Mohandas Gandhi traveled to South Africa, where his ideas of satyagraha developed.
Two Journeys to India
Two Journeys to India is a documentary storytelling project of Dr. King and the Dalai Lama coming to India in 1959.
Dr. King spent a month traveling through the country (February 10-March 10, 1959), visiting followers of Gandhi and learning more about his satyagraha movement. The Dalai Lama traveled for seventeen days (March 17-March 31, 1959) from his home in Tibet to escape the Chinese military. After becoming a refugee, he established Tibet’s government-in-exile in Dharamsala, India.
Transmission and Transformation
Divine transmission causes a process of human transformation to occur. Transmission can occur between the spiritual and material world, across time, and between people. The receiver gains Self-Realization to take part in the mission of working in this world, in service to brother and sister, for the cause of peace.
